R H Irving Fabrication Division evolved during the early years of the company with a local resource that had the quality and commitment, but not the facilities, to grow and meet the stringent requirements in the present utilities market. The ability to respond, survey, draw, manufacture, deliver and install became too onerous, the natural progression was for R H Irving to take over and expand the new division in-house.
The company was acquired along with its employees and brought into the R H Irving Industrials fold, with the acquisition of our new facility, Lee Close in Washington, being the final piece of the plan. The current status ensures we meet all the ISO, Health and Safety and Training requirements to enable us to provide high quality, verified steel structures and associated installation products for the PowerFence and Fencing Industry. Our 10,000 sq ft facility is ideally located and set up to manufacture, design and deliver the steel products R H Irving needs for the security fencing aspect of its business.
Latterly R H Irving has ventured in to large scale steel fabrication and not just for the utilities, however realising the utilities market is where we shine. We have expanded the fabrication in many areas bringing in the skills of our AutoCAD department which have enabled us to be included in the National Grid Generic Design Manual for specific products. This is a major milestone and depicts the forethought to quality, design and delivery we have at R H Irving Industrials. Our commitment and evident passion to deliver not just a product, but something that is better and has added value for money for all parties is what we strive for. We aim to take the specification and make it work for all the products involved, eliminate the grey areas and manufacture something that is not just fit for purpose, but works better than expected and with the quality finish relative to the price tag.
Over the years spent working on National Grid Gas and Electric sites nationally, R H Irving has developed a highly skilled engineering base which is able to carry out mobile fabrication work on active sites. This service has become so specialised and skilled that demand is massive. Having the right men with the qualifications to hold permits and carryout the specialist works in highly dangerous areas is unique even at height over water course or HV sections of substations. The smallest job can have the biggest issues without the relative ticks or accreditations in place and in the right box.
R H Irving’s recent large scale projects include the installation of galvanised high level acoustic barriers at National Grid Ealing Substation, all fabrication of steel works for National Grid St John's Wood, along with emergency panic gates for ISS installations and the strain posts for many high profile security sites throughout the UK.
Any steel fabrication will be considered and priced if required. If utilising our mobile division, the close working relationship with fabrication management and the principal contractor or client on site ensures a seamless process which is difficult to match considering the testing nature of these works.
In 2014 R H Irving can boast supply and delivery of steel in excess of 350 tons along with high pressure pipeline works. This we are looking to grow in 2015 taking the CE Marking Standard to ensure we again have all the accreditations ticking the relevant boxes and meeting specification and operational requirements.
